Ohio State Grabs Offensive Tackle Taylor Decker from Notre Dame

Taylor Decker made a switch over the weekend from Notre Dame to Ohio State after a visit to Columbus. At 6’8” 315lbs. Taylor has great size and many recruiting agencies have rated him in the twenty's nationally at the offensive tackle position for his performance on the field. Decker had been committed to Notre Dame from the spring but Urban Meyer’s interest and two Notre Dame assistants being hired at Ohio State led to the change in commitment. Most commits will sign letters of intent at the beginning on February.

Decker improves the 2012 class of Ohio State which was looking mediocre until Urban Meyer took the head coaching position and began recruiting. He has landed a number of top recruits at important positions and placed the Buckeyes into the top 5 nationally for 2012 classes. The offensive line was a concern as Ohio State is losing a number of lineman and only had secured the commitment of Jacoby Boren and Pat Elflein prior to Meyer’s hiring. But now with Decker and Joey O’Connor on board, fans can be relieved that their line will be of quality going forward.

Ohio State is also in pursuit of two other lineman in Kyle Dodson and Jordan Diamond. Dodson is committed to Wisconsin verbally but has made a number of additional visits including USC, OSU and USC. Diamond is more open and made an early visit to the Buckeyes followed by visits to Michigan and Auburn.
