Luke Roberts Transfers From Ohio State

Luke Roberts, the sophomore linebacker from Ohio State Football, is following an unconventional path. The Columbus Dispatch reports that he is transferring to Harvard, and will be playing for the Crimson. He will instantly qualify for the F.C.S. program.

According to the Dispatch, Roberts feels that Harvard is a suitable choice for him. Although he had the chance to transfer to a different B.C.S. school, he believes that taking a more scholarly route will be more appropriate for him. Apparently, he thinks that Harvard fits his personality, and he likes the teammates he will have and the area he will be in.

This season, Roberts was earmarked as a backup. Thus, in all likelihood, his playing time would have been restricted. However, his exodus depletes a position group short on experience, which lost another 2012 recruiting class member after spring practice, with the departure of David Perkins for Illinois State.

The Buckeyes have recruited 3 highly esteemed 2013 class prospects in Trey Johnson, Tyquan Lewis and Mike Mitchell. Now, their path to possibly cracking the 2 deep as freshmen is much clearer. ESPN.com reports that Roberts used to be a 3 star recruit, who received offers from Indiana, Arizona, Purdue and Cincinnati. His Big 10 days are behind him. However, usually, most people who have the ability to move to Harvard will wind up doing alright for themselves.
