Ohio State Football Releases Jayme Thompson

Jayme Thompson

Jayme Thompson is heading to Kentucky, for now.

Thompson's move comes after the Ohio State football team released the four-star recruit from the team, leaving their secondary with one less player.

Thompson, who made three tackles in the most recent game, sat out the 2013 season after suffering a broken ankle.

Several teams, including Vanderbilt, Missouri, West Virginia, Nebraska and Cal, were courting the safety, who attended Toledo Central Catholic. After originally committing to West Virginia, Thompson switched to Ohio State and he still speaks highly of the staff there. According to Eleven Warriors, the 6'2" 190-pound player may be considering options to attend Louisville, Rutgers or Penn State, but the question remains whether the staff will allow him to attend another school in the Big Ten.

Thompson's goal is to obtain immediate eligibility, regardless of where he ends up.

With the departure of Thompson, the Ohio State team now has the maximum 82 scholarship players they are permitted to have when the football season starts. This fall, the sanctions expire and the Buckeyes will once again have the full allotment of scholarships, pushing the number to 85.

No matter where he decides to play, fans wish Thompson good luck with his new team.
