Ohio State Travels to Rutgers

Ohio State is favored to win this weekend on the road against Rutgers by 4 touchdowns. After three years of playing in the Big Ten, Rutgers has yet to beat the Buckeyes and Ohio State is loaded with talent once again. Ohio State players are taking the game seriously, as they should, heading into Piscataway Saturday for a 7:30pm kick off. The BigTen Network will broadcast the match.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Former Ohio State defensive coordinator, Chris Ash, is in his second season as the head coach of Rutgers.

Rutgers is 1-3 with one loss in league play to Nebraska. Rutgers was 0-9 last season in Big Ten play and lost in Columbus 58-0. Hopefully the game this weekend is more competitive.

Urban Meyer feels the defense of the Scarlet Knights is vastly improved to last season even with the team dropping a home game against Eastern Michigan earlier this year. But the statistics do support a greatly improved defense by Rutgers with the team in the top 30 for yards allowed in a game with only 298. The are stingy with the points (18.3 /game) and third down conversions allowed (30%).

The Scarlet Knights have switched to a 3-4 defense from a traditional 4-3. Allowing quick linebackers Kemoko Turay, Trevor Morris and Deonte Roberts to rush or play pass coverage. The team is in a better position to utilize the players that they have.

Rutgers lost their best cornerback for the season in Blessuan Austin last week against Nebraska, so that could a vulnerable spot for the Buckeyes go after this weekend.

Finally, Rutgers quarterback Kyle Bolin has struggled with 3 touchdowns and 6 interceptions this year so far. And there are no weapons on offense except for Janarion Grant to worry about.

Ohio State Buckeyes

Ohio State is ranked 11th best in the country with 3 wins and the one loss to Oklahoma.

JT Barrett should have a lot of success this weekend after showing that he is capable of putting up 5 touchdowns on a team before half-time. Beating UNLV 55-21 in a game that gave the team a lot of new confidence last outing. Dwayne Haskins and Joe Burrow could both see action in the second half of the game Saturday.

Mike Weber should be back in the line-up  this weekend too, and play along-side JK Dobbins at times.

Penn State appears to be the next team that Ohio State has to worry as they have one upcoming home game against Maryland and then travel to Nebraska (2-2).
