Buckeyes fans will not be disappointed this upcoming football season. Featuring a star-studded lineup, the Buckeyes now have some of the top backfields in the country. From J.K. Dobbins and Mike Weber, to Jaelen Gill, Master Teague III and Brian Snead, the team's deck was already stacked high for success... now it is stacked a lot higher.
Monday, Sampson James, a star running back coming out of Avon, Indiana, joined forces with Ohio State after coming down for a 2 day visit.
Standing 6-foot-1 and coming in at 211 pounds, James is considered to be the eighth best running back in the country and the number 142 prospect overall for the 2019 team expansion. Impressively, James picked the Buckeyes over a whopping 20 other offers from football programs such as Georgia, Florida State, Cincinnati, Indiana, Michigan State, Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame, Purdue and Tennessee.
On James's first trip, he watched as the Buckeyes' beat the Spartans out 48 to 3. In addition, head coach, Urban Meyer, has personally visited the young running back several times.
Even though James also visited at Bloomington and Knoxville, among others, this spring, his unofficial visit Monday did not seem to be quite so "unofficial." It had been planned out for a long time according to insiders. While the running back was on campus for the team's third practice of spring, James let Meyer know that he had made a decision. He wanted to be a Buckeye.
James now comes in as the third member of the 2019 Buckeye's recruiting class, joining four-star offensive tackles Doug Nester and Ryan Jacoby to create quite a fantastic outlook for Buckeye's fans' expectations come game day.
