Michael Redd Named to Olympic Team

Former Ohio State shooting guard Michael Redd has been named to the 2008 Olympic Men’s Basketball team. He will be a part of a 12 member team heading to Beijing China.

Ohio State

Michael Redd played his college ball at Ohio State opposite Scooney Penn, was drafted the 43rd overall in the 2000 draft, and has been an invaluable player for the Milwaukee Bucks for years. At age 28 he is one of the most coveted players in the league.

FIBA

Redd performed well in the FIBA Americas tournament last summer in Las Vegas and should play an important role on the team this summer. Brought on as a three point shooter and someone that can make zone defenses pay for not coming out of the paint. The last couple American teams have suffered as international teams have played a lot of zone keeping the driving players of the USA from getting close to the basket.

Other Members

Other members of the team include Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets); Carlos Boozer (Utah Jazz); Chris Bosh (Toronto Raptors); Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers); Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic); LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers); Jason Kidd; Chris Paul (New Orleans Hornets); Tayshaun Prince (Detroit Pistons); Michael Redd (Milwaukee Bucks); Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat); and Deron Williams (Utah Jazz).

Six of the players were a part of the last Olympic in 2006.
