RB Carlos Hyde to Sit in 2009

According to the Dispatch, RB Carlos Hyde of Naples, Florida will have to sit for the 2009 season. Hyde still plans on being a Buckeye but fell one point shy of the required ACT test score. Hyde will have to postpone his playing days as a Buckeye until January 2010.

At 6-1, 235, Hyde would have been the biggest running back in the OSU stable and certainly would have been in the mix when it cam to playing time. Boom Herron and a bulked up Brandon Saine will get the majority of carries and with the news that incoming freshman Jaamal Berry’s legal charges have been reduced the Buckeye backfield will be good if not great depending on the growth of the offensive line.

In 2010, the Buckeyes have the luxury of two Clydesdale size running backs in Hyde and Fort Wayne, IN prospect Rod Smith (6-2, 220). Both players will bring a power running game to Ohio State that has brought the team so much recent success.
