2012 Cornerback Tyvis Powell – Nothing Compared to Ohio State

Sticking with the Buckeyes looks like the right move for a number of 2012 recruits as Ohio State appears to be clear into the future with only 2010 being affected by the recent NCAA violations. Bedford Ohio cornerback Tyvis Powell selected the Buckeyes over Michigan State, Cincinnati, Syracuse, West Virginia and many others even after head Coach Jim Tressel had resigned. We recently asked him about his college selection and his high school career.

We asked Powell about his physical attributes on the field that set him apart. “My best physical attributes would be height, feet, and ball skills.” At 6’4” he is one of the taller corners in the country for 2012.

Powell looks back over the past three years and feels good about his team’s play on Friday nights. ”Enjoying each and every Friday night football game with my teammates.” he reported to us. “And Picking off Connor Cook (Mich. St. Recruit) in a football game. But the best is battling with my teammates on Friday nights and trying get a win for the city of Bedford.”

Powell didn’t have anything to say about other schools that offered him a 2012 scholarship. ”I would speak of the other universities but none of them were even in comparison to OSU so I won't waste your time and talk about them.”

What he liked so much about the Buckeyes included academics, campus life, and football. ”A fine academic establishment, beautiful campus and surroundings, outstanding and great alumni base, and the best college football program in the world.” he explained.

And what Powell was looking for was everything that he found at OSU. ”Great academic institution, beautiful campus and surroundings, legendary and historical football program, and to become apart of one of the best alumni bases in the world.”
