Daniel Giddens To Join The Ohio State Men's Basketball Team

EXCLUSIVErun15

Daniel Giddens is to join the recruiting class of the 2015 Ohio State Men's basketball team. The coach has a history of recruiting basketball team hopefuls by taking them to the university's football games. With this approach, the potential new players can experience the dedication of the Buckeyes fans.

Giddens had already made his official campus visit after committing to becoming the fourth new recruit on the basketball team. He visited on June 27th through the 29th with his family. He felt it was the perfect time to see the team's summer training regimen. He decided to visit the school over the summer because it made for a more private, low-key atmosphere.

Giddens chose Ohio State from a final list of schools that included Indiana, Wake Forest, Georgia and Florida. He announce the commitment on the same day he turned seventeen, and he said "It's a great day for our nation; it's Independence Day and my birthday." He'd known for approximately 30 days that he would be playing for the OSU team.

He also said that one of the best things about the college is its strong academic program along with its athletics. Giddens said that he plans to major in business. He also says that Coach Thad Matta and three coaching staff want the best for all the university's basketball players. Giddens looks forward to starting the 2015 basketball season.

Giddens joins a strong team that includes Austin Grandstaff and A.J. Harris, both of Dayton. Another new addition is Mickey Mitchell of Plano, Texas. The coach would also like to add an additional forward to the team before this coming November's commitment deadline for the basketball team. Good candidates include Carlton Bragg of Cleveland and Esa Ahmad of Shaker Heights.

According to ESPN, Giddens is the 55th-ranked player in the graduating class of 2015. His best skills include guarding the rim on the defense end of the game. He recently led the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League in the percentage of blocked shots. He also has a developing offensive strategy. Giddens has also made the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp. Giddens' father is also a former player for the Division II Clark Atlanta University. Current coaches say Giddens still has some work to do on his offensive play, but he'll be skilled enough to play for a Big Ten school by the time he gets to Ohio State.
