Buckeyes Picked to Win Big Ten

Members of the media attending the annual Big Ten media day in Chicago have picked the Buckeyes to win the Big Ten title.

By Eric Geier

The media panel in attendance at the Hyatt in Chicago has named The Ohio State University Buckeyes the preseason favorite to win the Big Ten. The panel also named Terrelle Pryor the preseason offensive player of the year. Pryor has had an outstanding offseason, developing his throwing arm and working on his speed outside of the pocket. His 40-yard dash has been clocked at 4.3 or 4.4, making him the fastest guy on the team. Michigan State linebacker Greg Jones was picked as preseason defensive player of the year.

Penn State was predicted to come in second, just a year after beating the Buckeyes in the Shoe and winning a share of the Big Ten title, followed by the always pesky Michigan State Spartans. Ohio State visits Happy Valley on November 2nd, but doesn’t have a date with the Spartans. However, Michigan State gets Penn State at home in the final game of the season.

The media panel only votes on the top three spots, so the rest of the Big Ten rankings are up for grabs, beware of a strong Iowa team that is looking to make a statement in Big Ten play this season.
