Flu Bug Continues to Affect Ohio State Football

Mike Adams 2009 Media Day_2

Flu Bug Continues to Affect Ohio State Football

Head Coach Jim Tressel admitted today at his weekly press conference that the flu has affected the Buckeyes another week with left tackle Mike Adams taking some time away from the team to recover. Other players to miss games so far include Ray Small, Jon Thoma, and Andrew Miller.

By Steve Patterson

Ray Small caught a flu bug on a Friday night before the season opener and missed the Navy game where he was set to start as Ohio State’s primary punt returner. He has been full go every since but the flu continues to place players on the bench and away from the team.

Jon Thoma missed a game and left tackle Andy Miller missed the game against Indiana allowing Mike Adams to take over the position on the depth chart. Michael Brewster was the first offensive lineman to miss time midweek with a flu but returned for the Saturday kick-off according to Coach Tressel. "I don't think it's under control because the problem is, it's not under control with the general population." he explained. As players mix with the rest of the students at Ohio State, they are exposed and could catch something at any time.

Left Tackle

Now Mike Adams could miss the Wisconsin game as he has come down with the flu mid-week. The team is hoping Andy Miller is back although he has not made it to the practice facility since his illness. And they hope Adams can recover before the game on Saturday. Marcus Hall got time last Saturday against Indiana and could provide additional depth if both players do not return.
