Paul Brown Museum Kicks Off Fundraising Efforts

If you are an Ohio State Football fan, then you already know who Paul Eugene Brown is.  So that said, I can spare you the ten + pages I could write. The amazing innovator and first coach to bring a National Title to the Scarlet and Gray will be honored in Massillon with a state-of-the art museum.

By Ryan Leonardo

The museum will include stadium style seating, along with many pieces of memorabilia that have never been seen by the public.  Fundraising efforts have already begun, and plans are in place to break ground in the near future.

The museum will have interactive video and many other attractions that display the great history and tradition of his brilliant and almost seemingly impossible accomplishments.  His widow, Mary Brown, has been the largest contributor so far, with rare items such as his Hall of Fame induction jacket and WWII uniform from his time at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center.  Countless others will be displayed also.

It is thrilling to see that he is getting recognition for what he did for the game of football.  All of his disciples, student athletes, friends and family learned the value of commitment, discipline, and hard work.  After all, he invented the facemask and playbook, and was the first to use IQ tests and the 40-yd dash to evaluate players.  He also broke the color barrier for African-American players, brought the first Championship to Ohio State in 1942, and won multiple Championships with the Browns and Massillon Tigers.  Brown also started the Bengals, and the West Coast Offense (Which the Pro Football Hall of Fame website says should have been originally named the Ohio Offense).  Visiting this shrine will be on the top of my list the day it opens.  Here’s the link…..    http://www.paulebrownmuseum.com/
