Injuries for Ohio State Going Into Maryland Weekend

Urban Meyer lost one of the star receivers for the Maryland game this weekend in Corey Smith. The senior receiver was injured during the Indiana game this past weekend and similar to Noah brown is out for the year. Ohio State continues to have receiver troubles.

Meyer might apply for a 6th year of eligibility for Corey Smith who was a Junior Varsity transfer student starting in 2013. This year would have been his last year but if they can get a medical hardship he will have one more year of eligibility.

Ohio State Playing Indiana On The Road

Indiana has a 4-0 record this year to match the Buckeyes as Big Ten play begins and fans have already sold out the stadium for Saturday’s game. Coach Kevin Wilson is letting his 18-34 record over 4 season as Indians head coach deter his intention of knocking of the top ranked team in the country. The Hoosiers enter the game as 22 point underdogs and their might be just as many Buckeye fans in the seats as there are Hoosier fans.

Ohio State And Western Michigan Saturday

Western Michigan has not lived up to the hype this season so far with many returning starters. Seven wins last year was just the start to a great 2015 run, but that hasn’t happened for those players. At 1-2, a bad loss against Michigan State and Georgia Southern, and now on the road against Ohio State, that is a rough start for any football program. Thank goodness Murray State was on the schedule.

The Broncos play the Buckeyes at 3:30 this Saturday in the teams first trip ever to the Horseshoe. WMU has the second toughest pre-season schedule in the country based on the record of Michigan State and Ohio State last year. Not only that, but those two teams that the Broncos have scheduled early this year are now ranked 1st and 2nd in the country.

Ohio States First Opponent, Virginia Tech

This Labor Day Buckeye fans are in for a special treat when Ohio State plays their first game of the season against Virginia Tech at 8pm in Lane Stadium. The broadcast will be on ESPN. Frank Beamer led the Hokies last season to a 7-6 record with a signature win against the Buckeyes. They came up lame for 3-5 in the conference, finishing fifth in the ACC Coastal Division.

The VT defense looks to be strong again this season with Bud Foster returning as coordinator. They have a pair of defensive ends in Ken Ekanem and Dadi Nicolas that should provide some trouble for OSU quarterbacks. And their secondary isn’t bad either, led by Kendall Fuller. The defense led their conference in sacks last year with 48 and will be let loose once again. Tackle Luther Maddy is a force in the middle and cornerback Brandon Facyson is touch on the edge.

When Ohio State finished fall camp this past week, Urban Meyer stated that his goal is to get Braxton Miller ready to start at H Back when the Buckeyes open the season. He’s not quite there yet but he is getting close. That position crowed with Dontre Wilson, Curtis Samual and Jalin Marshall already. But Miller is dynamic and athletic enough to find time.

Terrelle Pryor Makes Triumphant Return To Ohio State

Recently, Ohio State decided to remove the ban placed on Terrelle Pryor. The talented football player will resumed his sports career on Friday at Ohio Stadium.

However, when it comes to participation within the intrasquad scrimmage, Terrelle Pryor will have to sit by the sidelines. While he will attend the event, he cannot play because of an injured hamstring.

Four years have passed since Terrelle Pryor has visited The Horseshoe. Before this new transition to wide receiver, Pryor played for the Buckeyes.

After he left The Horseshoe, Pryor suffered a ban from Ohio State. Fortunately, the ban has been lifted due to his membership with the Browns.

Most of the time Ohio State has no problem welcoming athletes back on campus. When such situations occur, NFL players are given access to weight rooms and lockers.

Braxton Miller To Play At Receiver Position At Ohio State

In an interview with Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated, Braxton Miller announced his plans to switch from playing quarterback to playing in the receiver position for Ohio State. Miller was originally to have competed for the starting QB slot with J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones.

Miller first discussed the possibility of the switch with the team's strength coach in April. He approached coach Urban Meyer with the idea one month later. Within a couple weeks, he was meeting J.T. Barrett on the practice field after sunset to practice catching balls. Miller missed the entire last season due to a shoulder injury and was secretly looking for a fallback plan.

Miller will play H-back, which is a hybrid receiver position, next season. He plans to spend 20% of the time during training camp as a quarterback and the other 80% as a receiver, in case he decides to try making a comeback as a quarterback. Miller estimates he would need two more months to be fully ready to quarterback, so right now he is focused on the receiver position.
