Ohio State Pursuing 2018 Point Guard Noah Locke

NoahLocke

Ohio State is looking to add a highly ranked point guard to their 2018 class with Noah Locke from Owings Mills Maryland. Locke is a 6’2” guard rated the 15th best at his position in the country. He will visit the Buckeyes on August 22nd with previous visits going to Michigan, Florida, Xavier and Providence. Kansas was also looking to sign Locke but did not get an official visit from him. Michigan has only one scholarship open for the 2018 class and is hosting a number of other recruits. Ohio State is in great need of a point guard and has a thin roster at this time, would be a good spot for Locke.

Ohio State Football Walk-Ons Given Scholarships

ElijaahGoins

Ohio State football walk-ons Elijaah Goins and Zach Turnure both where given senior season scholarships this week. The actual event happened after practice on Saturday with Urban Meyer making the announcement to the whole team. This was very similar to last season when Joe Burger and Craig Fada were put on scholarship after three years of playing and a red-shirt freshman year. Burger and Fada were special teams standouts and that is the same role Goins and Turnure have now.

Goins, from Concord NC, has had a long journey starting at Safety, switching to Corner Back, and ending up as a Receiver. He appeared in 12 games last year for OSU. He called his mother quickly after practice to tell her about the scholarship. He plans to continue working part-time at CVS as he pursues a pharmacy degree.

Justin Ahrens Considering Ohio State Again

DGp_YnnWsAEBN2K

Once an Ohio State verbal commitment to play basketball for Thad Matta and Ohio State, Versailles Ohio standout Justin Ahrens has the Buckeyes in his top 6 for consideration. In fact, Ahrens was on campus this week visiting with new head coach Chris Holtmann.

De-Commitment

Small Forward Justin Ahrens had been a commitment to the Ohio State University for almost a year before news broke that Thad Matta was being let go. His teammate Darius Bazley was also set to join Matta in 2018 and become a part of the rebuilding that needed to be done. Bazley actually jumped ship earlier as the Buckeyes struggled in Big 10 play and did not make the post-season last year. But Ahrens waited until the coaching change to start looking around. Now he has a new scholarship offer from former Butler coach Chris Holtmann and is considering OSU in a recent top 6 that he provided to reporters. Holtmann has jumped on the recruiting trail and been able to bring in some good talent, ranking the current class atop the Big Ten.

Dinwiddie Virginia linebacker K'Vaughan Pope announces his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes

K’Vaughan Pope Announcement

K'Vaughan Pope realized he would become anxious on stage, before the TV cameras and all his teammates, while he was announcing his college commitment. This is why he asked K'ymon, his younger brother, to read the statement he had written to the crowd in the Dinwiddie County HS auditorium.

Once his brother had completed reading the statement, K'Vaughan read the last paragraph. He declared his commitment to the Buckeyes, and the audience in the assembly hall went crazy. Then, he threw a scarlet and grey football jersey over his shoulders after standing up.

Lyle Left Ohio On Bad Terms

JaQuanLyle

Ohio State Basketball point guard JaQuan Lyle left the team last April. There was no reason given from his side as of yet, but an Ohio State representative put out a statement that indicated that he had quit the team April eleventh. Along with that, he was arrested on a Saturday morning on three misdemeanor charges. The charges include criminal mischief, public drunkenness, and disorderly conduct.

It is a shame that the young man ran into these problems since he had such a promising future. After 66 career collegiate games with Ohio State with an appealing stat line it is safe to say the young man's future is in big jeopardy. Averaging about eleven points per game with four and a half assists and a solid four rebounds a game Ohio State will certainly be missing this young man on the court. After this year's loss to Rutgers in the Big10 tournament a source hold said he would definitely be back next year.

Sevyn Banks, 2018 Four-star Cornerback Commits to Ohio State

There are reports that Sevyn Banks, who hails from Orlando, Florida, has committed to Ohio State and will be a part of the 2018 recruiting class. The Orlando Sentinel's Chris Hays was the first to report that Banks is the Buckeye's first commitment to play in the position of cornerback for the 2018 class.

On April 15, the 180 pounds and 6-foot-1 cornerback attended a spring game at Ohio State University. Although Banks suffered a torn ACL that kept him sidelined for the junior season, he is ranked as the 22nd best cornerback of the 2018 class.

Why Georgia Is Not Enough For DE Brenton Cox

DEBrentonCox

DE Brenton Cox has broken Georgian hearts by signing with Ohio State. The tears are still fresh and haven't dried but that's the way of the world. It was unknown, however, if DE Brenton Cox was given an offer he couldn't refuse as in money talks. Indications are that he loves the Buckeyes and the recruiting class they are putting together.

For in the world where DE Brenton Cox swims, there are two forces at play. The Dark Side means money changes everything. The Force, however, wins over when someone with the caliber of DE Brenton Cox chooses such things as promises, future, respect, and potential.

It's not all about the money, no one has heard DE Brenton Cox say just yet. So the rest of world can only guess. DE Brenton Cox, who's a defensive end, is ranked 19 in the 2018 class. Whether he joins The Force or The Dark Side in selecting Ohio, DE Brenton Cox is destined for the Big Ten.

Trevor Thompson Aiming For NBA Draft

Trevor Thompson

Trevor Thompson is an Indianapolis native who played his first full season as a redshirt sophomore at Ohio State. Last year, Thompson opted to explore the NBA draft when the season ended, while also retaining his college eligibility. It seems that he will be trying again this year. However, he will return to Ohio State if the NBA draft is not favorable.

Ryan Thompson, his father, shared with The Dispatch in a telephone interview that the situation is different because Trevor's performance was much better this year which proves that he can play at the NBA level. For the 2015-2016 season, Trevor Thompson averages per game were 5.1 rebounds, 17.9 minutes and 6.5 points. However, when he returned to the Buckeyes, freshman Micah Potter took the starting center position during fall camp. Thompson was able to start after Potter was injured. After, Thompson achieved the title of honorable mention all-Big Ten because of his improved average game stats of 9.2 rebounds, 23 minutes and 10.6 points.
