Ohio State is having some trouble recruiting this year with the NCAA violations hanging over the program, but they have struck gold a number of times with Ohio kids in the top tier of the state including Pat Elflein. Elflein is a big athletic 6’3” 285lbs lineman that played both offensive and defensive line for Pickerington North in Central Ohio. He joined the Football Buckeyes today after receiving close to 10 scholarship offers from a number of Big 10 and Mac schools.

Also a wrestler, Elflein brings great strength and athleticism to the college football line position. He dominates opposing players and moves them quickly off the ball and out of the play. He was offered a scholarship on Wednesday and accept on Thursday. He becomes the 11th member of the 2012 class for Ohio State.

Elflein was waiting for a Buckeye offer but did not think an offer was coming. He was considering a number of other schools including Northwestern and Purdue. At the college level he play either guard or center and showed great pulling ability in highlight films featured by He always wanted to be a Buckeye, and that is the kind of player head coach Luke Fickell is looking for while awaiting an NCAA decision that could involved post-season bans and a loss of scholarships.

Also from the Pickerington area is Jacoby Boren who plays the same position but at Pickerington North were his brothers played. They will now be on the same team instead of on rivals.
