Michigan Camp Gives Players Access to Coaches

A local camp outside of Detroit Michigan called the Sound Mind Sound Body camp (sponsored by Adidas) was help mid-week and allowed kids from all over the country to travel to Southfield high school to camp with some of the best coaches in the area. Urban Meyer took the entire OSU staff to the event and hopes he will get some recruiting wins in Michigan territory for their efforts. When he first heard of the camp he thought it was an NCAA violation for college coaches to travel into Detroit to coach at a camp, but Ohio State’s [outstanding and flawless] compliance department gave him the go-ahead.

Meyer feels that Ohio State has a really good chance of getting recruits out of Michigan as he recruited the area when he coached Bowling Green. Last year the Buckeyes did not have any recruits in a class of 25 from the state up north.

Other coaches that attended the camp included Brady Hoke from Michigan, Ron English (Eastern Michigan), Garrick McGee (Alabama-Birmingham)  and Pat Narduzzi (Michigan State). Meyer gave a brief speech and said he liked the opportunity the camp gave student athletes to have the coaches come to them instead of having to travel to camp with the coaches at their universities. Hoke and Meyer ate ribs together at one point in the day, with Hoke leaving a couple for the Buckeye coaches (JJ).
