Ohio State Basketball Commit From Mount Saint Joseph Guard, Kam Williams

Mount St. Joseph guard, Kam Williams, the son of Kevin Williams, is headed to play basketball for Ohio State. 12 months ago, Kevin Williams spoke with Dave Dickerson, Ohio State's men's basketball assistant coach, who related that Kam brought to mind Juan Dixon, but with smoother handling and more athleticism. Kam Williams visited Ohio State this past weekend. Shortly after, this Tuesday, Williams announced that he will be playing with the Buckeyes next fall. He chose the Buckeyes over Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Miami and Marquette. He also expressed his excitement in joining the Ohio State basketball 2013 class.

William's basketball legacy includes playing with Mount St. Joseph and achieving 1st team Baltimore Catholic League (BCL) honors as a 2nd year player and BCL Player of the Year while he played the following season. Last spring & summer, Williams played for the Nike Baltimore Elite and led the Elite Youth Basketball League in scoring with 22 points a game. While he played impressively, he did not receive a scholarship offer from one of the Big 10 until Ohio State made an offer in July.

Williams was at one point favoring Miami, which also made him an offer, even making a visit to Coral Gables two weeks ago. However, after visiting Columbus Ohio recently, he made up his mind and accepted Thad Matta’s scholarship offer. He related that he was impressed with the school and its legacy and was hoping that he could excel there.

His coach at Mount St. Joseph, Pat Clatchey, has confidence that Williams will do well and he shared that William's strength and size do not in any way hinder his talent. Williams' father, Kevin Williams, will have to readjust to watching his son from a distance however, he is confident that Kevin's training and discipline will stay with him. Kevin Williams further shared that he is happy with this Ohio State Basketball commit and believes that he can fit in well with the Buckeyes.
