Buckeyes Snap Up Kyle McCord

Buckeyes Snap Up Kyle McCord

O-H my! In an early commitment for the class of 2021 Ohio State snaps up 6'3 and 204-pound quarterback Kyle McCord. McCord, who is finishing up his sophomore year in Philadelphia, Pa at St Joseph's, has verbally committed to the Buckeyes for 2021. Ohio State's quarterback coach Mike Yurcich has been recruiting him along with 15 other colleges that have given him offers. Kyle who received his first scholarship offer in the summer before his high school career began has been a strong and successful player on the field. His career thus far has been quite impressive and the accolades are expected to grow over his next two years of high school. During his first season as a varsity starter, he threw 38 touchdowns, completed more than two-thirds of his passes and set the school record with 2,883 passing yards. He holds a Penn State Class 6a title and will have an opportunity for two more before Ohio State even has the opportunity to have him in the locker room as a Buckeye.

Why McCord Liked Ohio State

Kyle, who is ranked 113th nationally, had an impressive list of offers from West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Temple, Arizona, Baylor, Boston, Central Michigan, Michigan, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Princeton, Rutgers, and Syracuse. One would think this type of a decision, that will affect your career and life, would be difficult but it seems Kyle knows what he wants and was able to make the decision fairly easily having only visited three of the universities. He visited Ohio State twice, Penn State twice and Rutgers once. He stated that he and his family were impressed with Ohio State and their program immediately. While his mother, a teacher, was intrigued by the academics, his father, a former Rutgers player and he were impressed with the football program. The coaching staff and players were genuine and seemed to truly be interested in him. The coaches at Ohio State are known for quarterback development and that was of great interest and played a huge role in his decision. When you have a talent such as his it is important to find coaches that can foster that talent and help it grow and that is what he saw in the Buckeyes.

Ohio State Class of 2021

The Buckeyes seem to be on top of the world right now when looking at the Class of 2021. They were able to secure the first strong 5-star commit in the defensive end Jack Sawyer and now the news of Kyle McCord as a 4-star commit sets the bar for other strong players to want to seriously consider Ohio State so that they can be a part of a strong team. Kyle is dedicated to bringing strong players with him and this could lead to one of the top-ranked wide receivers, Marvin Harrison, Jr committing as well. The prospects are setting Ohio up for what could be an amazing season of football and should bring some excitement to the stands for all of those diehard Buckeye fans. Keep your eyes open for the next move this amazing coaching staff may be taking as they shape this team into prospective winners.
