Big Day for Buckeyes at Combine

It's that time of year again. The time when college football players are analyzed and critiqued at every angle to determine if they are ready for the NFL. The 2016 NFL Combine saw a number of players from across the nation including the Ohio State University. A total of fourteen Ohio State players got an invite to the combine(more than any other school in the nation). Of those fourteen, there are a few locks to be drafted in April and a number of question marks.

There are three solid NFL draft locks, following the 2016 combine. Defensive linemen Joey Bosa figures to go early in the first round, possibly even number 1 with the Titans. Bosa actually made a request to include linebacker drills (a request that was later denied). At 6' 6" and 269 pounds Bosa ran a 4.86 40 with a 1.69 split at 10 yards. While not outstanding, the marks are solid. With 26.0 sacks over three Ohio State seasons he is a lock to be drafted.

Ezekiel Elliott and Darron Lee are also solid bets for the NFL draft. Considered by many to be the top back in this year's draft, Ezekiel Elliot had a time of 4.47 seconds in the 40. He is a strong back and although he is not a speedster, figures to be a great power back. 6-foot-1, 232-pound Darron Lee demonstrated exceptional speed and great coverage skills during his combine workouts. Lee had a 40 time of 4.43 and a vertical jump of 35 1/2 inches, fifth among all linebackers. His 20-yard shuttle of 4.2 tied for third among all linebackers. Lee figures to be a first round pick with those numbers.

Outside of these three their are other less safe bets based on the combine. Wide receiver Michael Thomas recorded solid results and appears to be an early draft pick. He had a vertical jump of 35 and an ok 40 time of 4.57. Tight end Nick Vannett and linebacker Joshua Perry also had decent combine days and figure to be drafted at sometime. Vannett had a decent 20 yard shuttle time of 4.20 while Perry 40 of 4.68. All in all, fans should bet on seeing lots of buckeyes come draft day.
