Columbus Brookhaven has produced some decent talent in the past couple of years with much of that talent leaving the area to play for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. A junior from Brookhaven is working hard to get a chance to play at one of the D1 programs that recruit Central Ohio.

Inside linebacker DeShawn Morton is a little undersized at 5’8” and 210lbs but plays the position with a lot of speed and love for the game. “My sideline to sideline awareness power and explosion are my best attributes.” He told us most recently. What sets him apart, “Nothing special just the love for the game.”
Last year with Mifflin, he put up some attention getting numbers at the middle linebacker spot. “I had 137 tackles 2 interceptions and 1 defensive touchdown.” He reported.
But the young star is still waiting for a decent test score before he dives into recruiting. “I haven’t made any visits just yet.” He explained. “I have letters from a lot of schools but as of now I’m not in the clearing house so none just yet but after this season I’m sure they will come.” He plans for his senior year to be a good year on the field and in the classroom.
He described the type of school that he is looking for when he does begin to explore the recruiting world. “Good surrounding, great coaching to make me a better football player and a better person along the way.” He said. He also added. “All the schools I like are all winning programs with great coaches and great players with great hearts.”
