Denard Robinson Focused on the Win

Despite being in a unique group of NCAA players to ever have put up both 3,000 yards running and passing, Denard Robinson isn’t focused on personal records, he wants the wins. Currently tied with Tom Brady with 35 touchdown passes in Michigan history, the Deerfield Beach Florida junior doesn’t seem to care about personal achievements.

Robinson is also known to throw interceptions nearly as much as he throws touchdowns. This year he has 15 touchdowns to 14 interceptions and for his career he is 35 to 29. The interceptions make some nervous in spite of the teams record this year of 9-2. Plus Robinson’s skills were more appropriate for the spread offense run by Rich Rodriguez compared to the pro-style offense of Brady Hoke. Having to play under center is something he didn’t have to do as much his first two seasons at Michigan. And the new Michigan coaches are having to adapt slightly to include more spread, so Robinson can do what he is comfortable with.

Not only is he uncomfortable in the pro-style offense but his totals are way down from 2010. His passing yards have fallen close to 700 yards and his rushing yards are down to 993 vs 1,702 for the full season a year ago. But all this does not mean anything as the team is winning this year compared to the first two years he was on the team.
