September 7 Preview: OSU Versus SDSU

The San Diego State Aztecs will travel to Ohio on Saturday September 7th to play our Buckeyes with a 3:30pm kickoff. Of course, they'll be facing the a tough opponent, the Ohio State Buckeyes, to say the least. SDSU is getting plenty of publicity for facing such a highly ranked foe, but the school is coming off a big loss to Eastern Illinois, which should make fans of the Aztecs nervous.

These two teams have faced each other three times in the past. In those contests, OSU handily beat SDSU back in 2001, 2003, and 2005. Everybody knows that Ohio State football reigns supreme, though. On the other hand, SDSU has only recently seen any level of measurable success. So this matchup could easily be more lop sided than the beating Eastern Illinois put on them in week one.

San Diego State has seen some success on the road recently. They're winners of three straight on the road. However, this is their first road game of the season. OSU is ranked third in the AP poll, so they aren't exactly pushovers. It remains to be seen how this game goes but all the betting will be on the scarlet and grey by a large margin.

Will the results look similar to these teams' previous encounters? According to most sources, Ohio State football looks ready to cruise to another victory. San Diego State isn't going to go down without a fight. Still, the team's chances of winning on the road against a formidable opponent are low.

In this particular game, spectators can expect a valiant effort by SDSU's main running back. There are plenty of stars on both teams, but OSU will likely reign victorious when all is said and done. Ohio State is SDSU's highest ranked opponent since 2003, so simply creating a competitive matchup should be good enough for San Diego. The Buckeyes get back Bradley Roby at cornerback and Rod Smith at running back. Roby should be a big boost to a Buckeye defense that had some trouble in coverage last weekend against Buffalo at home.
