Buckeyes Snag The Win, Credit Pure Hunger

Some might call it wishful thinking, but if you were to have suggested just a few days ago that the Buckeyes would make the long journey to Oklahoma and dismantle the third ranking team in preseason polls - most people would have deemed you a little bit crazy.

45-24, the Ohio State Buckeyes took the victory over the Sooners, validating all of the behind the scenes work that went into a win whose making had been well-hidden from the outside world.

Even after losing 16 starters from the previous year, the Buckeyes knew that they had something incredibly special in training camp.

Linebacker Chris Worley spoke on the fact that sometimes you can feel you have that special thing going in to pre-season and find that it is something completely different once camp starts. However, Worley stated that once camp did begin "there was no doubt" how much talent would be entering the field on game day.

Raw talent is the foundation for any great team, but a lot of the success that is coming out of Ohio State is also being touted as pure hunger. This is especially evident as many of the Buckeyes are not coming in as newbies. They are older guys and have been waiting for years for their time to shine.

Worley came in this year after being Darron Lee's backup for the previous two years.

"We're all hungry," Worley said. He hopes that this will be show through in the way that they play.

That was definitely what happened Saturday. Even after a 90-minute weather delay, the Buckeyes stayed focused to snag the win and the number 2 position in the polls. With Big Ten play beginning October 1st, the Buckeyes will be at home again against Rutgers. If their win against the Sooners is any indicator of the season ahead, then Ohio State is in for a record year.
