Urban Meyer Says No To LSU Coaching Position

Urban Meyer will stay at Ohio State and says he is not interested in any position available at LSU. After LSU recently fired head coach Les Miles, reports began to come out stating that the Tigers would at least try to get in touch with Urban Meyer, even if the results would not be what they expect. Meyer gave confirmation on Tuesday that he is not interested in a position at LSU. He mentioned that he did not receive any calls from LSU and plans to remain at Ohio State as head coach.

Since LSU is targeting many big names right now, it is probably a smart move by Urban Meyer to make this announcement so early. This move doesn't come as much of a surprise, even if LSU is not successful in luring some of the best coaches in college football. Two other candidates that LSU may be scouting for are Florida State's Jimbo Fisher and Houston's Tom Herman (Ohio State's former offensive coordinator).

LSU fired Les Miles on Sunday and put Ed Orgeron in as interim head coach while LSU continues to search for the best candidate.
