Ohio State coach Jim Tressel, who watched junior tailback Chris "Beanie" Wells win four awards
at the team's banquet yesterday, was asked whether Wells faces a tough decision in regard to
leaving for the NFL after the Fiesta Bowl.
"If it were me, it wouldn't be tough," Tressel said.
He should go?
"Shoot, yeah," Tressel said. "In my opinion he ought to be one of the first five guys picked. I
know he is very focused, and this game (against Texas) is very important to him but we've always
said if you're going to be a top-round pick, you ought to think about going."
His teammates voted Wells the MVP, even though he missed three games because of a foot injury.
He also won the Archie Griffin (top offensive player), W.W. Hayes (outstanding player in the
Michigan game) and Rex Kern (top offensive back) awards. Linebacker James Laurinaitis and
cornerback Malcolm Jenkins shared the Bill Willis award as outstanding defensive player.
