Ohio State Spring Camp Kick Scrimmage

Ohio State held a kick scrimmage on Saturday at Ohio Stadium and many members of the press were on hand to observe the team for one of the few opportunities before the Spring Game. The scrimmage gave Braxton Miller a chance to demonstrate his ability as fans are a little nervous about the quarterback position while Terrelle Pryor sits out the first five games.

Terelle Pryor has taken Braxton Miller under his wing and tried his best to ‘coach him up’ during camp. But Joe Bauserman is still the most experienced and the one who gets to rep with the first team offense the most. Kenny Guiton continues to look good and could be the fan favorite coming out of camp as he had a great Spring Game last year. Taylor Graham is also in the mix and getting a chance to show his ability under center.

The wider receive position is also greatly in flux this year with Dane Sanzenbacher graduated and DeVier Posey suspended. Corey Brown has continued to look good after a nice freshman year with sophomore Chris Fields also getting time with the first string. Jake Stoneburner can be counted on to make catches and extend the defense down the middle of the field.

JB Shugarts struggled last season with foot injuries but has recovered to a large extent during the off-season. Should be solid this year at the right tackle spot. The rest of the offensive line is currently Mike Adams, Jack Mewhort, Mike Brewster, and Corey Linsley.

Finally on offensive are the running backs and there has been some good feelings towards Jamaal Berry coming from camp. His explosiveness and elusiveness are often noted when he is discussed. The backfield is quite crowded but one of the younger players will get a shot as Brandon Saine has graduated and Daniel Herron is sitting out when the season starts.
