Ohio State vs Youngstown
State
August 30th
Overview:
Youngstown State returns to Columbus for another big paycheck. I understand why this game is happening but I
don’t have to like it. Jim Tressel is
helping out his old program by getting them some national exposure and a nice
chunk of change.
Preview:
YSU returns 16 starters in 2008. The biggest loss for the Penguins will be QB
Tom Zetts, while Tom didn’t light up the world with his arm but he was the only
Penguin to take significant snaps in 2007.
Thankfully for YSU they return starting running backs Kevin Smith and Ben Lane, their top
receiver Ferlando Williams and four of their five starting offensive
linemen. This game will be in hand early
and Ohio State will be testing out the Boekman / Pryor dual threat offensive
attack starting late in the third quarter.
Outcome:
Ohio State is faster, stronger, bigger, tougher, deeper, more
experienced and more talented. That
said, Jim Tressel will keep the game from getting out of control and
embarrassing his old team. A lot of
young players will get time on the field including super-recruit Terrelle
Pryor. Beanie Wells will knock out 100+
yards and a touchdown in the first half as he starts his campaign for the
Heisman Trophy.
