Nice video from Athletic Scholarship Corp of recent Ohio State Buckeye commit Tyvis Powell playing safety for Bedford Ohio this past season. Most of the clips feature him as a tackling defensive back playing a team that runs the ball routinely. He’s a big 6’4” defensive back with great speed that can get to a running back or a quarterback quickly when needed. He also can get to the ball in coverage and breakup a pass. Not afraid of contact, looks more like a linebacker in many of the highlight video clips featured. Will camp at Ohio State this summer where he can get a feel for both safety and cornerback. He will be known as the first post-Tressel recruit for the Buckeyes when he arrives in 2012.
Tyvis Powell from Bedford could play either cornerback or safety at Ohio State.
In his commitment press conference, Powell talks about loyalty and wanting to stay in the state. He also mentions coach Luke Fickell as his college head coach, who currently is the interim coach and may be replaced after his interim season.
Wants to be loyal to Ohio they way he was taught at Bedford.
