Ohio State had 9 players drafted in 2019, and have had at least five players taken each of the last six years. Now, those players will look to have an instant impact in the NFL.
Nick Bosa, San Francisco 49ers, Rd. 1, Pick 2
Bosa should instantly upgrade an anemic 49ers pass rush, and the scary thing is that he could be even better than his brother.
Dwayne Haskins, Washington Redskins, Rd. 1, Pick 15
Haskins is walking into a situation with an injured Alex Smith, and not much else behind him. At this point, he may have the inside track to the opening day starting job.
Parris Campbell, Indianapolis Colts, Rd. 2, Pick 59
Beyond T.Y. Hilton, there's not much in the Indianapolis WR room, so the speedy Campbell can contribute right away.
Dre'Mont Jones, Denver Broncos, Rd. 3, Pick 71
In 2018, the light came on for Jones and he put together a great junior season, landing him near the top of the third round. He is extremely athletic but can be a feast-or-famine type player.
Terry McLaurin, Washington Redskins, Rd. 3, Pick 76
McLaurin enters a WR room in Washington with a lot of players who haven't really reached their potential, and can contribute quickly.
Kendall Sheffield, Atlanta Falcons, Rd. 4, Pick 111
Sheffield has rare athleticism, and great speed, but needs to continue to work on his ball skills to become a truly elite corner at the next level.
Michael Jordan, Cincinnati Bengals, Rd. 4, Pick 136
An experienced interior lineman with a great frame, and NFL size, Jordan has the potential to be a starter for the Bengals, and was a solid value pick in the 4th round.
Isaiah Prince, Miami Dolphins, Rd. 6, Pick 202
The Miami offensive line has been a major weak point, but investing a pick in Prince will help depth as they look to protect new QB Josh Rosen.
Mike Weber, Dallas Cowboys, Rd. 7, Pick 218
With Ezekiel Elliot in the fold, Weber will be fighting for carries, but is versatile and athletic enough to push for a roster spot in preseason.
The Buckeyes also saw OL Malcolm Pridgeon and WR Johnnie Dixon go to the Houston Texans, LB Dante Booker go to the Arizona Cardinals, and OL Demetrius Knox to the Seattle Seahawks as undrafted free agents.
But what about 2020? Three prospects spring to mind:
DE Chase Young enters this season as the leader of a talented, deep front four in Columbus. He has great run stopping ability and prototypical size, and is expected to go pro after his junior season in 2020.
RB J.K. Dobbins is the first Ohio State player to rush for 1,000 yards as both a freshman and a sophomore, and is expected to be the bell cow for Coach Ryan Day's offense.
LB Malik Harrison nearly declared for the 2019 draft, but decided to return to campus for his senior year. Many close to the program believe he can be an All-American this year, and can be a high pick in the 2020 draft.
The Buckeyes have had 63 players drafted to the NFL over the last ten drafts, and will look to add to that total in 2020.
