4-Star Jalyn Holmes Signs With Ohio State Football
When Urban Meyer came to the Ohio State football program, fans knew one thing for certain: His recruiting was going to be awesome. They needed it, too, because That School Up North has been doing some stellar recruiting of its own. Meyer has lived up to his side of the deal, bringing in a lot of talent. The latest addition to the 2014 class is Jalyn Holmes, a 4-star defensive end who choose the Buckeyes over Florida, Clemson and Florida State.
OSU already had one defensive line commit, but Holmes is a different type of player. He is the type of player who can dominate, who can take over a game. At six feet and five inches, he is tall enough to fight around a tackle and get to the quarterback, throwing his long arms up to knock down passes at the line. At 225 pounds, he is also large enough to swallow up the run. This is the perfect combination for a defensive end, and he is not even in college yet, where he is sure to put on weight and get faster.
With Jalyn Holmes on the team, Ohio State football is undeniably heading in the right direction. The offense was already great, carving up Big Ten opponents last year, even with a young QB at the helm. With a destructive defense that can keep teams out of the end zone, Ohio State is in a position to dominate the Big Ten and even challenge the mighty SEC.
Jalyn Holmes in the NFL Draft
Holmes played Defensive Tackle for Ohio State for three years from 2014 until 2017. He entered the 2018 NFL Draft and was selected in the fourth round by the Minnesota Vikings. In his two seasons in the NFL he has played in 11 games recording 1 sack and 7 tackles.
