Ohio State Football Set For Conference
Following a 76 point win over Florida A&M, the Ohio State football program must turn its attention to conference rival Wisconsin. The Badgers open Ohio State's 2013 conference schedule. While Urban Meyer has made it clear that his team will be prepared for the task, the Wisconsin Badgers pose a serious threat to the Buckeye's season hopes.
Last season's game was a thriller. While the Badgers forced the undefeated Buckeyes into overtime, Ohio State was able to fend off Wisconsin to preserve a perfect 12-0 season. After being banned from bowl play, Ohio State comes into this game with something to prove. This season the number four ranked Buckeyes are eyeing a triumphant return to bowl season play, and a convincing win will help push Ohio State higher in the rankings. They currently sit at number four or number three depending on the poll.
While the Badgers suffered a loss during a poorly officiated game, their season will largely be determined by the outcome of this game. Going on the road and defeating the fourth ranked team in the country could resurrect the Badgers hopes for the season. After all, there is no better way to save a season than by defeating the fourth ranked team in the country. A convincing win could potentially propel Wisconsin from being ranked 23rd into the low teens.
These are two teams with everything to prove. Ohio State football is eager to reestablish itself as a perennial bowl contender which they only lost due to infractions. And for the Wisconsin Badgers, an early season loss has their title hopes in danger, but an opportunity to defeat a title contender offers the hope of a second chance.
