Marcelys Jones Commits for Ohio State’s 2014 Class
A surprise came to the Buckeye community on Christmas this year when 2014 Cleveland Glenville recruit Marcelys Jones informed Urban Meyer and the OSU coaching staff that he was selecting the Buckeyes for his college career. The staff had been active recruiting without a bowl game to prepare for until the recruiting dead period began. The Glenville offensive lineman is a big 6’4” 325 lbs. power house that is hopefully just the first or a number of Tarblooder’s the staff hopes to get commitments from.
Jones also had an offer from Indiana but did not feel pressured to make a selection. Even with the long tradition of Glenville football players coming to play for Jim Tressel over the past decade, Jones felt everything was wide-open and he could make his own decision. He genuinely likes the atmosphere on campus, likes the coaching staff, and feels that he can be a contributor to the program.
He feels the 2014 class can do some big things and being the first member is special for him. He hopes to help out the Buckeyes with recruiting a number of 2013 and 2014 recruits at Glenville that are still undecided. 2013 outside linebacker Christopher Worley has offers from Arkansas, Michigan State, Pittsburgh and West Virginia in addition to Ohio State. 2014 recruits from Glenville with Ohio State interest include athlete Marshon Lattimore and safety Erick Smith. Lattimore is one of the best players in the state and has over 10 offers already.
