Ohio State to Miss Robert Rose and Ray Small for Bowl Game
Head Coach Jim Tressel confirmed that both Robert Rose and Ray Small will not be eligible for the Rose Bowl when Ohio State plays Oregon in a little over a week. Robert Rose plays an important part in the two deep rotation on the defensive line and Ray Small is the #1 punt and kick off returner for the team. Sophomore running back Bo Delande is also rumored to not be eligible at this time.

This bit of bad news comes a week after fans found out that the number three receiver on the team, Duron Carter, would not be eligible because of a poor performance in the classroom during the fall quarter. Small is the fourth receiver on the team, leaving the Buckeyes searching for players at the position. Coach Tressel feels Taurian Washington, Lamaar Thomas, and Jake Stoneburner can fill the void at the position.
The official reason given for the suspension of both Rose and Small is a violation of team rules. Small has seen his troubles through his career at Ohio State including losing his number, starting the season late because of academics, and a mysterious absence from a game completely early in the season. Both players had hoped to finish strong and complete their degrees in the Spring. Both players were missing from practice for several days prior to the announcement of their ineligibility.
