Ray Small Talks Openly About Selling Memorabilia and Discounted Cars

Not really what Ohio State needs while under investigation for violating NCAA rules, a former player (Ray Small) telling local reporters that he violated NCAA rules, others violated the rules, and many don’t even think twice about making money and getting extra benefits while playing for Ohio State. Of course Small wasn’t a stand out player or student while at the University, but letting it all out to the media, in a way only his dad would, isn’t helpful.

In a story printed by the Lantern this week, Small admits to selling items for money as he struggled through college. He admits to selling his Big Ten rings as he received four of them during his time with the Buckeyes and didn’t feel the need to keep all four. Paying for apartment rent and a car loan are his stated reasons for the sales.

He also admits to receiving deals on a car and other items while playing for Ohio State. But he didn’t see the deals as being anything above or beyond what any other customer would receive that walked-in off the street. Small also talks about how he was the ‘Bad Guy’ on the team during his time. He was consistently in trouble with the coaching staff and faced several suspensions.
