Prior to being attacked in a Florida bar last summer, which left him with a fractured skull and severe brain injury, Ohio State University football player Tyler Moeller  was considered to be one of the most versatile “defenders” on the team as a Safety/Linebacker. Although he has now returned to the Buckeyes and hopes to be “full-go” for the fall, only time will tell if will be able to achieve his former form.

Moeller served as a reserve linebacker during his freshman year in 2007, and proved himself to be a strong player with a record of eight tackles. He was also credited with blocking a punt by Youngstown State, and became a first year letterman.

As a sophomore, he was listed as a reserve linebacker and tagged as “dangerous on the special units squad,” ending the season with 18 tackles to his credit, achieving six of them in the opener against Youngstown. He then went on to earn his first start at Illinois in a game that earned him seven more tackles as well as two TFLs. Moeller also forced an fumble by Illinois and was presented with an Attack Force Award that year and became a second –year letterman.

Moeller’s physical prowess and speed were first recognized while still in high school, where he played defense on a  Ohio Division I team and named “Player of the Year” in 2005, as well as Ohio’s Southwest District Player of the Year and the State’s North-South All Star pick, after totaling 123 tackles (including 15-1/2 sacks and 29 for loss) and forcing two fumbles by opposing teams.
