Brian Rolle is the Defensive Player of the Week

Ohio State has announced the players of the week after preparation and a win against Marshall on Thursday night. Senior linebacker Brian Rolle was named the defensive Player of the Week. The defensive did not allow Marshall to score while Rolle had 4 tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown at the end of the second quarter.

Jim Parker lineman of the week went to starting center Michael Brewster. The junior from Orlando Florida has been a starter with the Buckeyes since he replaced Steve Rehring as a true freshman two seasons ago. The move happened because of an early season injury and the need for then center Jim Cordle to move to Rehring’s guard position. Brewster has been the starting center ever since.

Senior Defensive End Cameron Heyward was the Attack Force award winner. Considered the top defensive end player for the 2011 NFL draft, Heyward had no recorded tackles even though he was a defensive leader for a front that did not allow Marshall to move the ball more than 45 yards on the ground.

Tyler Moeller won the Jack Tatum Hit of the Week for an unblock sack of Marshall quarterback Brian Anderson. Moeller was the leading tackler for the Buckeye defensive with 6 total tackles. He forced one fumble and had the lone sack for the Buckeyes from his Star position. Moeller has fully recovered from a Florida bar attack that led to a serious head injury that could have cost him his football career.

The Scout Players for the Week included Kenny Guiton, Dan Bain, and Spencer Smith.
