Angelo Chattams on Ohio State Football

Recruited by Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Purdue, and Northwestern, Angelo Chattams stuck with his verbal commitment to Ohio State when they made a coaching change in 2000. Coming out of Dayton Chaminade Julienne High School, Chattams had great numbers from the wide receiver position, 80 catches for 1,500 yards as a junior and  78 catches for 1,021 yards as a senior. The last game he played as a Buckeye was the season opener in 2002, he was accused of taking a set of gold clubs from the trunk of a car in Montgomery County and left the team to handle the legal issues. Later he returned to Ohio State to get his degree and is now working in Chicago.

“Correct, I completed my degree in 2006.”

What are your current goals?
“Most of my current goals are work related.”

Have you continued to follow the Buckeyes?
”Yes I follow the Buckeyes.”

Did last year's Rose Bowl and this year's Miami game change everyone's minds about the quality of Ohio State football?
“I think everyone who follows Buckeye football or is a fan of a Big Ten team has always recognized the quality of Ohio State Football. With that being said, I don't know how much those particular games have affected the opinions of S.E.C. fans as they have won a few of the most recent National Championships.”

What will be the keys this season for the Buckeyes to get back to a BCS bowl and win the Big Ten?
“To reach another BCS bowl game and win the Big Ten the Buckeyes just have to continue to grow and get better game as Coach Tressel says. They are one of the most talented teams in the country so if they continue to do everything right, on and off the field they will be National Champions.”
