Playing at Ohio State was his great starting point and now he returns to Ohio to be a part of the NFL shrine in Canton, the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He only scored touchdowns as a possession receiver with the Minnesota Vikings and is known for mentoring Randy Moss when he arrived on the team.
He caught a total of 1,101 passes during 234 games with almost 14,000 yards and 130 touchdowns. He was drafted by the Eagles out of Ohio State in the supplemental draft but is remembered mostly for his time with the Vikings.
Joining a class of 7 players to be inducted this year, Carter made it past a number of popular receivers including Andre Reed and Tim Brown.
Others being inducted include coach Bill Parcells, nose tackle Warren Sapp, guard Larry Allen, and tackle Jonathan Ogden. Some left out include running back Jerome Bettis, defensive end Michael Strahan, and cornerback Aeneas Williams.
