Scott McVey Gets Early Offers

One of the top linebacker prospects in the state of Ohio for 2010 is Scott McVey from Cleveland St. Ignatius. The talented defensive star helped his team win the division one state championship and quickly received an offer from Ohio State thereafter this winter.

Title Game Star

The 5'11" 215 lbs inside linebacker dominated teams during his junior year for the Wildcats of St Ignatius and was the best performer during the title match this winter. He recorded 8 tackles, 4.5 sacks, forced one fumble and made one interception against Cincinnati Elder. We asked McVey about his performance this past season. "My best attributes are pass rush and run stopping... exploding off the ball."

No surprise that his favorite high school moment was the state finals. "Highlight of high school so far is winning states." he said. On the year, McVey had a number of quarterback hurries and sacks. "18 sacks, I don't know how many tackles for the year." he reported.

Ohio State Bowl Practice Visit

After receiving his Ohio State offer days after the championship game, McVey made plans to visit the Buckeyes while they prepared for the Fiesta Bowl in Ohio. "I went to OSU for a bowl practice.. great experience talked with Coach Tressel for awhile." He liked the visit so much that OSU is now his leader over Boston College and Michigan State.

He told us what he is looking for in a college when we contacted him recently. "I'm looking for a college where I can thrive the most academically and in football." At this time he is planning on visiting the other schools that have offered sometime in the spring before making a final decision. "Ohio state, Boston College, and Michigan State all offered." he explained.
