Devoe Torrence is Formally Charged with Rape
Speculation had been around for
many months that Ohio State recruit and one of the best running backs in
the country Devoe Torrence had been involved in sexual misconduct with former Massillon classmates.
The BrutusReport.com had Torrence
listed as an Ohio
State verbal for months
along with all of the other recruiting websites and services. But when he did
not visit for an official visit to campus like all committed scholarship
athletes eventually do, it was obvious that Torrence would not be a part of the
Buckeye’s 2008 class. His scholarship had been pulled for off-the-field issues.
Yesterday
Stark County
prosecutors released the indictment against a 22 year old and 12 teenagers for
having consensual sex with underage girls they met through MySpace.com around the
Cleveland area.
Only three teenagers are charge with rape, including Torrence.
It is a very sad day for the
Torrence family as Devoe had such promise on the football field and could have
been the Buckeye’s feature back two to three years down the road. His brother
Devon is also a gifted athlete and remains on the Ohio State
roster although major league baseball was a serious consideration for the
standout receiver/cornerback and center fielder at one time.
