Ohio State’s Pryor Passes for Record in Indiana Win

Terrelle Pryor threw for a personal record 334 yards on Saturday as his strained quadriceps kept him from running the ball. But the Buckeyes didn’t need Pryor to run the ball as their defense shut down the Indiana offense and Ohio State passed the ball down the field consistently. Ohio State had a 31-0 lead at halftime over the outmatched Hoosiers so Pryor could rest the 2nd half.

The win against Indiana was Jim Tressel’s 100th win as the head coach of Ohio State. He becomes the quickest coach to reach the mark only coaching 121 games to date. Also, a lose by the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday allowed Ohio State to move into the #1 position in the AP poll and the Coach’s poll.

After putting up 480 yards a week ago against a bad Michigan defense, Ohio State only allowed Indiana starting quarterback Ben Chappell to gain 106 yards passing. In total, Ohio State had 478 yards of offense while Indiana could only muster 210 yards. Ohio State had three receivers score touchdowns, including Devier Posey, Brandon Saine and Dame Sanzenbacher. Posey was the leading receiver for the Buckeyes with 103 yards and one touchdown.

The running game for Ohio State wasn’t a big part of their offense but was used when needed to punch the ball into the end-zone. Daniel Herron rushed for 68 yards and 2 scores on Saturday. Freshman Carlos Hyde received 9 attempts during the game, gaining 48 yards but fumbling near the goal line. Jamaal Berry was also active in the backfield rushing for 42 yards and an average of 8.4 yards per carry.

Injures during the game included right tackle JB Shugarts who left the game with a shoulder injury. Cameron Heyward also stayed out a play after having some leg cramps but was fine after the game.
