Linebacker David Durham Commits to Ohio State

Austin Texas Westlake outside linebacker David Durham committed to Ohio State over offers from Illinois, Virginia and West Virginia. The 6'3" 227 lbs prospect for the 2010 class was in Columbus for a visit over the weekend and liked what he saw.

Second Visit Sells

Durham was convinced by his high school wrestling coach (an Ohio native) to visit Ohio State after the coach did some selling of his own to the Buckeye staff. That was his first visit. Then after getting film, the OSU coaches suggested a second visit and offered a scholarship this past weekend when Durham was in Columbus again.

LEO Position

He made a tour of the Northeastern part of the US with additional visits to both Virginia and West Virginia. But Ohio State was the place he wanted to be. The Buckeyes are looking at Durham as a LEO where he can play either upright from an outside linebacker spot or down as a pass rushing end. This hybrid position is something that has drawn a number of talented players to Ohio State and Durham seems to like the position also.

Many Factors Make the Difference

Additional selling points for Durham where the academics, facilities, coaching staff, and the family atmosphere. He really likes Luke Fickell and his coaching style in addition to the Christian beliefs of Coach Tressel. He mentioned the group 'Fellowship of Christian Athletes' would be a group he would want to be a part of when he is a member of the team.
