McVey grew up a fan of Ohio State and is considered a little small to play the linebacker position, but his aggressiveness and ability to make plays on the field drew offers from many of the larger college programs in the area. Stanford, West Virginia, Boston College, Iowa, Michigan, and Michigan State all offered during the early recruiting period for 2010.

Safety or Linebacker

After visits to Notre Dame, Boston College and Michigan, McVey made the decision that Ohio State was the place for him. McVey is open to playing either Safety or Linebacker when he enters college next year.
